Would it be better to save each template I create from a book as its own file? Or should I save the entire pdf worth of templates as one file?

From my experience, it is easier to have them all in one file, that way you do not have to remember each individual name if you are trying to send them to a player.

Current Games:
Pathfinder homebrew - DM

Recent Games:
Shadowrun 5E - GM
Dead Reign - GM
Pathfinder Homebrew - DM
Pathfinder Homebrew - DM

My HL Files - Birthright, Creatures, and items
Birthright Setting and D20Despot

I think one file per book is good practice, so you can easily refer to other content you've created, without needing to load a different file.
