3PP Arcanist Exploits

I'd like to add some arcanist exploits from the Book of Magic: 10 Arcanist Exploits, © 2016, Jon Brazer Enterprises.

The one that seems to be the most useful is "Unfettered" which has this description:

Unfettered (Su)

The arcanist selects one spell from a spell list other than the sorcerer/wizard list and adds it to her spellbook and spell list at one level higher than its original level.

Can anyone give suggestions on how to code "adding a different classes' spell to the arcanist list at +1 level"? -- which I can then add to his spellbook?

When I filtered the archetype list for "one level higher", I found the Elven Arcana ability from the Oracle (Ancient Lorekeeper) archetype, that looks like it does the same thing as this ability.

Ok, that is a class special. Can that be essentially duplicated as a custom ability?

Double Edit: The ability seems to be violating the validation rule despite a) being added to the spellbook and b) being memorized.
