So I'm creating a Cleric, and the core rule book states that "A Cleric may prepare and cast any spell on the cleric spell list, provided that she can cast spells of that level, but she must choose which spells to prepare during her daily meditation."
When I'm selecting what spells I know as a lvl 1 cleric it restricts me to 3. I am assuming it is because i can only prepare 3, but shouldn't I be able to list all the spells as known, and then tell HL which I'm preparing? |

Guess that depends. If you plan to use the iPad or HL software at the game table then no. By adding say "Bless" that is your spell you have prepared and you have access to change that at any time.
if you are going to use paper then I would add all the spells you think you may take and use pencil to mark the ones you have actually prepared that day. Other than turning red HL will NOT stop you from breaking the game rules. This includes preparing 50 spells or adding 50 feats at level 1 to your characters. Its one of the nice features of it actually. Also, once you've added a spell to your list of spells prepared, you can set it's number of times prepared to 0. That means it still stays there for you to look at, but doesn't count against the spells you have prepared that day. That allows you to choose some favorite spells that you'll use often, and leave them available for quick access when you want to change your spell selection.
