Hi guys,

I noticed when you add an acquired template that adds or subtracts from Int - like vampire - skill points are affected retroactively, as are starting languages.

I had thought bonuses and penalties to Int from acquired templates behaved like permanent bonuses gained from other items and effects, so that only future levels were affected.

Am I wrong about that, or is there something wonky with the HL templates?

Actually, in the case of a vampire, the creature's type changes to undead. It acts as if it had always been undead, so it's retroactive. It is not an amalgam of both being humanoid (or whatever) and undead, instead the humanoid creature dies and is essentially "reborn" as an undead creature, with all levels and what not still intact, but with the features of an undead.
