Count me in too! Was considering having a character with Craft Staff, but without the ability to use hero lab to make custom staves, I had to do way too much calculations by hand to bother with.

The cost of staves are pretty hard to calculate, with the way each additional spell gets a discount.

Would also appreciate the ability to add custom staffs in hero lab: both from a player perspective to create your own, and for designing custom loot as a DM.

I had not considered using the editor... but have played around there a couple of times, more looking than changing anything.

My approach had been to calculate a staff on paper, and then to create it as a piece of custom gear, with a name, weight and gold piece value.
And to then include it on the 'Personal' tab, so it would be part of a character sheet print out.

Staff/Stave functionality would rock.

In the meantime, the editor is definitely worth checking out.
Thanks for the topic, and for bumping it into my view, and for the great replies.

Another vote on that.

Standard staves are universally seen as bad, but crafting a 1-spell staff can be good to let you spam enervation while having necromancy as an opposition school

I remember there were rules on making custom staves, but I don't want to go into the editor to make em

The Iron Golem has added sphere staves, to the Spheres of Power package.

Not exactly the same thing.
More following the procedure of a magical weapon, than a staff.
But it's also a different system.

Still it is a magical staff.

Standard staves are seen as bad in Magic Mart campaigns where you can obtain magic to order. or if they are seen as purchase. As found items, they're fantastic... especially for spontaneous casters like sorcererers.

If this is still a possibility, I’m all for it
