I am trying to figure out a couple of things I hope
y'all could help me with one or all of them...

1)Is it possible to slave one item to another? I have
a couple of items which require another item (upgrade)
to purchase...Is there a way to do this or should I
make the parent item an option?

2)I have an item which is supposed to be incrimental
(irng:1-5 and icnt:5) but when I select it in AB I can
never get the +/- buttons to appear much less work...

3)How do I prohibit a unit from being selectable when
used as an ally? I have an army which is unuversally
able to be an ally but one unit from that army is only
selectable by one other army...

Thanks for any answers to any of these questions...

Caution. I have not used this command so I may be talking rubbish but here
goes anyway. I presume that you are setting a parameter which can take a
range from 1 to 5 in increments of 5. If the value is minimum of 1 and you
increment by 5 that makes 6 so the parameter cannot be increased. Try an
increment of 4.

Just my best guess.

Actually the icnt command is used to state a maximum
number of this item which can be taken by the unit (at
least according to the help file)...It's useful for
special items which can be used by multiple units but
have a maximum count per unit...Virtually every item
in the particular army I'm writing has this command as
each model/unit can't repeat weapons...

OK. My mistake. I misunderstood the meaning. Given that it is Item Count
then your approach should work.

You could do this by making one item assign a type to the unit (using the
'type' attribute on that item), and have the 'slave' items check that this
type is present using 'itst'.

You need to actually add the item before the +- buttons appear; they don't
appear when you just select the item in the list.

Give that unit the external attribute "lglx:race=xx|race=yy", where xx and
yy are the two races it is legal for.

Hope this helps.

Can you use an item as a "type"? I was under the
impression that you could only use "itst" command for
race, unit or mode (and I still have yet to figure out
what mode is however)...The problem is that the game
requires an item to be purchased (robotic arm) in
order to purchase specific weapons (specific hand to
hand weapons)...

I tried...it adds the item at quantity 1 (with full
benefits) but the +/- buttons still don't
appear...I've also tried rewriting so that you can
select it multiple times, which worked but I would
really rather have it all as one option rather then
multiple selections...the full commands for the item
as stands are;

"Armor"
itst:type=Gnome
base:Armor+1
icnt:5
asop
irng:1-5

Incidentally the asop command is also not working as
it still adds an item line rather then putting this in
the unit's description...

Thanks...I've made the change...this means that this
unit is not selectable to other races who can select
the race as ally but the units with nothing in the
external can, correct?

Thanks for the input so far...

Take the item and give it a 'type:ItemOne' attribute. When the item is
selected, the unit will be assigned the type 'ItemOne'. Then give the
second item the attribute 'itst:type=ItemOne', so it will not appear until
the unit has the 'ItemOne' type. Itst works on race, category, type or unit id.

Are you sure you're looking for the right +- buttons? The ones that irng
activates are on the right-hand edge of the Wargear screen, under the
up/down buttons.

As specified in the notes for asop, the item only appears as an option in
'roster output'. That means it will appear as a normal item until you
actually print the roster, where it will appear as an option.

Right. If a unit has no lglx attributes, it's accessible to everyone who
could take it as an ally. With the lglx, anyone who doesn't specifically
meet the restriction is excluded.

Thanks...the way Army builder described the "type"
function I was lead to believe that it changed or
added a type to the parent unit rather then
categorizing the item itself by a type...It works...

For some reason even those aren't appearing...

Ah, ok, thanks...

Thanks for your help so far...as soon as I get this
first data file through it should be clear sailing...

The type is being added to a unit. The 'type' attribute adds a type to a
unit; the 'itst' attribute checks the types on the unit. Is that more clear?

Strange. Could you upload the problem data files to the Files section of
this group and let me know where to find the problem, so I can take a
closer look?

Ah! Got it...I never would have thought to work it
that way...Thanks...

Attaching to this message as I'm new to Yahoogroups
and not sure how to append to the files section...
The problem lies in the "Armor" Item selectable only
for Gnomes...I've only included the Gnome datafile as
the other couple are far from complete (no
items/options yet) and don't matter much anyway...
