RavenX Pronouns: She/Her Please do not PM me to inquire about datafiles I coded "for personal use" such as Exalted, World of Darkness, AD&D, or Warhammer 40K Roleplaying. I appreciate your interest, but I do not own the Intellectual Property rights to these game systems. Nor do I have permission from any of the Publishers to distribute the data files. As such, I cannot distribute the work I have done with community on these files. They are "for personal use" only. Thank you. I am far too busy these days to answer emails. If you message me here there is no guarantee I will get back to you at all. |

Subscription models and always online are really big turn offs for me. I LOVE Herolab (I'm not bragging just establishing bona fides I have D&D 5th, M&M 2nd and 3rd, Savage Worlds, Shadowrun 4th and 5th and of course a ton of Pathfinder licenses and add ons) but don't plan on getting anything for HLO because my gaming habbits get effected by the real world far too often. One year of straight gaming might happen, followed by long dry patches, then on again for a few months, then another dry patch only this one spans 4 months. While I might not be playing I am usually still building because this is my hobby, but keeping a subscription for something I'm not using to it's full potential? Not really my cup of tea.
Hope this helps some perspectives. All that said I hope to have lots of fun making Pathfinder 2 characters with HL. |

Sadly, my comments regarding the apparent 'simplicity' of pf2, combined with my opinion of how HLO's architecture simply doesn't work for me, make me thing I'll likely be either finding another option for pf2, or creating my own. I don't look forward to it, but I feel it will end up being either that, or trying to create a pf2 community pack for classic hero lab - and I'd rather go more up to date from the beginning.

I'd imagine, but don't really know, that there will be HL-Classic and HL-Online components for any system going forward.
HLO is currently only Starfinder. They said there would be a minimal charge to migrate your HLC content to HLO, once Pathfinder is available for HLO. And there would be a minimal subscription, for service maintenance... not like an MMO game where the subscription is where they make the money. Going forward, they had said, anything you buy for HLO or HLC would be available for both. I'd imagine you'll have a classic version of Pathfinder 2 and eventually access to it online too. Not that I know for sure, but that's my speculation. |

I think Pathfinder 2E actually helps LW in this situation. I see PF2E being HLO only and Pathfinder never migrating...
And I'd be ok with that. It's sounding like PF2 will be significantly different and it's own package so I don't need my content migrated. IF I play PF1 after PF2 comes out I'll be ok using HL classic. I'm just excited about the interconnection HLO will hopefully bring like trading equipment between players real-tme and GM access to current characters (with conditions running) etc. Hopefully the API will let us toggle conditions and such as well so we get some real integration between VTT's * HLO as well! With that said, where do I sign up for the PF2E HLO Beta!?!? -Jamz RPTools.net | MapTool Discord Invite Download Latest MapTool Release | Download Latest TokenTool Release |

Our group would hate for Pathfinder 1e to never migrate to Hero Lab Online.
One of the features that was mentioned, was having a VTT being able to reference the online "live" character and read the correct version on the VTT as you make changes to the HLO character. Hero Lab is amazing as a live character sheet. Most VTTs aren't as easy to apply some/none/all of six spell adjustments plus several class features in seemingly random combinations, as the player feels he benefits most from something. Having the VTT live read the HLO version, buffs would be massively easier. |

I've been reading the Paizo blog posts about P2e (their abbreviation, not mine) and I don't see a practical way to convert P1e (?) to P2e in an automated manner. Many things might convert pretty easily (objects might, like weapons and armor, and many magic items should convert) but they're shaking up the class structures quite a bit and changing the way feats are allocated, plus some skills and proficiencies get revamped. There's no data yet on specifics so maybe weapon stats will change significantly, maybe not, but from what they said about classes, it seems like a major shift.
I can tell you that I'm going to be moving my HL installation into a virtual machine. At some point, LW is going to drop HL Classic (likely not for a few years from now, at the soonest) and when they do, it might not be possible to authorize a license on a new computer. However, if I put it inside a VM, I can always move that VM to a new computer when I replace my old one, even if they do kill their web-based license server. (And this is the main reason I hate centralized license servers. At least LW allows one authorization for the computer to activated and stay activated. This thing where your computer must connect to the vendor's server at least every X number of days is terrible.) #StandardDisclaimer #Ymmv #IMHO #BetterLuckNextTime #ImOuttaHashTags |
