NOTE: Release times have been changed to 11:15am each day (from 9am) now that we've been given the times of official games. This coincides with the break between games ending at 11am and starting at 12noon.

Please be aware that we are planning three separate releases for the week of May 26th thru May 29th. Each of these releases are scheduled for 11:15am Pacific and is expected to take only 5 minutes to complete.
  • May 26th @ 11:15am Pacific - Deploy some necessary pieces in advance of the Bestiary 2 release for Pathfinder 2e
  • May 27th @ 11:15am Pacific - Official release of Bestiary 2 for Pathfinder 2e, which will include roughly 2/3 of the monsters from the book
  • May 29th @ 11:15am Pacific - More monsters for Bestiary 2 and any critical fixes uncovered with the initial release on Wednesday
Our primary focus has been on the lower-level monsters first. Higher-level monsters will be added in the following week or two, depending on how long it takes us to finish them up and test them all.

Rob, is there any chance you could change these update times to be in between the times of scheduled games for Paizocon online? The timing shown above is smack dab in the middle of the morning session and could produce some negative publicity that could be avoided.

<sigh>

We specifically asked Paizo what time window would best avoid conflicts with games. They informed us that there was no such time, since games will be running around the clock.

If that's bad information and you have scheduling details that Paizo has not seen fit to disclose to us when specifically asked, please share it. Then we can try to scramble and change the release times. I'm not sure if Tuesday is an option at this point, but Wednesday and Friday probably are.

FWIW, we've been jumping through all sorts of hoops to get stuff into place enough in advance to be able to keep the deployments this week down to 5 minutes or less apiece and avoid any lengthy disruption while still getting the Bestiary 2 update launched.

Thanks in advance for any details you can provide that Paizo hasn't given us...

You can see the schedule over at the Virtual PaizoCon 2020 Warhorn. Events run next week from Tuesday to Sunday. The main RPG slots are:
  • Midnight-5 AM
  • 6-11 AM
  • Noon-5 PM
  • 6-11 PM
in the Pacific time zone.

Sticking to office hours, I'd guess you'd want to start around 11:15-11:30.

Glorious, that now drops into my sessions, if only people could just accept the original decision, surely you disrupt regardless of where you drop (there are players outside of the US).

There was clearly no "good" time to do the releases. So our intent was to find the "least bad" for as many users as possible. The releases are also only about 5 minutes in length, so that's about the same duration as a typical "bio break" that virtually everyone needs to take at some point during a game session.

Is it ideal? Of course not. But we also need to release the Bestiary 2 book for everyone who wants it this week. So we devised a way to do that with minimal interruption for the fewest users.
