I was creating an affliction power activated by reaction (like an Energy Aura but with affliction instead of damage), and I wanted to make it Permanent. As it stood before adding the permanent flaw, it was costing 4/rank (the same as an energy aura).
Looking at Permanent, it says it's a -1/r cost on the extras & flaws list. After adding it, it reads "0/r" in the power description, but it actually adds 2/r to the power cost for a total of 6/r (in a related scenario, if I add Permanent to say, Insubstantial 2 (Gaseous), it says 0/r and it is true to its word this time where it does not add cost to the power). I don't see anything where making a power like this permanent should actually add 2/r to the costs, so I'm a bit confused here. Having a Permanent energy aura of any sort certainly has its drawbacks. Can anyone tell me whether or not the power costs are correct in this scenario please? And as far as a program request, could we have the description within the power actually show how much it is actually adding to the cost total please? Thank you very much, and I have to say I really Love this program. -Drake Last edited by PghDrake; June 2nd, 2011 at 02:35 PM. |

The costing is correct, as adding Permanent turns it's Duration into Continuous, an Instant power such as Damage or Affliction becoming Continuous is +2/r (Instant->Concentration->Sustained->Continuous) (+3 [shifting from Instant to Continuous] -1 [the -1 modifier for the Flaw] = a total increase of +2)
It'll do likewise for other powers, for a Concentration Duration power it would be a +1/r modifier, for a Sustained Duration it is a +0/r mod and for Continuous it is the listed -1/r Flaw. I likewise would love for HeroLab to state even just a note of the above (preferably with the flaw showing what it would currently 'cost' the power, though even just a note I'd be happy with) |

Thank you for clearing that up for me. It was a little bit confusing, but now that I've looked closer at it it all makes much more sense. That's great that it figures that all out for you.
Hoping they can fix the display concern in the future. Thank you, -Drake |
