Hey all,
I'm currently looking at Mage Knight 2.0. Up until now I've been pretty much assuming that it's a separate game system, but having actually read the rules, it seems that it's very heavily rooted in the original Mage Knight; I am now unsure as to whether it should be just an update to the current Mage Knight files, or if it should have its own game system (and appear separately in the updates list, the list of games, etc). On their web site, WizKids seems to treat it as just another expansion for Mage Knight (in fact the name of the expansion is just 'Mage Knight' according to them); for those of you who actually play Mage Knight or Mage Knight 2.0, which strategy makes more sense to you? It has new factions, new rules, new 'magical items' and so on, so it does seem to be fairly different from the old game, but at the same time it looks like the old figures are still compatible, and so on. So I guess I'd appreciate the views of those on this list. Currently I'm leaning toward just making it an update of the Mage Knight files; is there anyone who would be violently against this? Can anyone think of any good reasons for or against either way? If you do, please let me know. I play Mage Knight but have not gotten into 2.0 yet. I would personally like them as 1 data file. I'd rather be able to see all the possible figures at once than have to go to 2 different game systems. Thanks. Yahoo! Basically, think of the Mage Knight games as 4 game systems (1.0, 2.0, Dungeons, and Conquest) all using the same pool of figures. The only exception is that 1.0 rules do not allow for the use of 2.0 figs, items, etc. at all, and updates to allow for 2.0 figs in Dungeons and Conquest have yet to be released, but are expected.
So basically, set it up as one game system, only have the 1.0 rules system ignore all 2.0 figs, terrain, domains, and items the same way it should ignore the Dungeon specific things like treasure chests. For Dungeons and Conquest, I dunno. There might be those who would use the 2.0 stuff for now until they're told not to, so I guess it should just be included for now and can be adjusted or removed when official rules come out of WK. ----- Original Message ----- From: Colen McAlister To: cardvault@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2004 9:26 PM Subject: [CardVault] Mage Knight 2.0 Hey all, I'm currently looking at Mage Knight 2.0.
