Hey, I just thought of this, but you can you please make a new quality in all the CMGs named "Repainted" or something to that affect. I know LOTS of peoiple that like to paint some to most of their figs, and like to keep them seperate from normal figs as much as possible.

BTW, can you make qualities gamesystem specific (i.e. somthing in the datafiles), or is it CV based and across all gamesystems?

If it is/could be gamesystem specific, I think that would make things less complicated for users of games that don't have an "Electronic" version, for example.

That shouldn't be a quality, it should be a style.

Qualities are standard across all games. Styles (normal, foil, etc.) are
datafile specific.

thanks for the idea, I'll implement it in the D&D minis datafiles for
the next release.

It could also be a Quality. Most collectors would treat "Drawn on by a 3 year
old with a permanent magic marker" as affecting quality.

Not that I am saying that people are bad painters, I am just trying to make a
point.

Okay, so styles are datafile specific, but qualities aren't? Why is Electronic a quality then, when only a few of the supported games have an electronic version with an actual inventory? Why would that not be listed as a style so it would be specific to Magic and a few other datafiles?

dunno, It was added by lone wolf. I guess they had a number of requests.
There are probably about a dozen games with electronic versions though.
It should be a style, but then that would leave it up to the datafile
authors to implement it.

I think it was added as a quality to provide uniformity for when the
online exchange systems go live.

I know there are a lot of games with electronic versions, but most of them have an open card pool, so, with the Exception of Magic Online and a few others, there would be no need fore inventory tracking. Therefore, there would be no need for a specific Quality OR style in those games.

The "Repainted" quality you request is, as Jim pointed out already, more
properly a style.

Qualities are global, covering all game systems with the same set. They are
not game-specific, and I can't think of a good scenario wherein a
game-specific quality is needed. The only thing that might be appropriate
is disabling certain qualities for some game for which the qualities don't
apply. But with the list of companies coming out with online games, I'm not
sure it's really necessary. :-)

The reason that "electronic" was added is two-fold. First, electronic cards
are becoming more widespread, as multiple companies are soon to be
releasing online play systems along the lines of Magic Online. So CV needs
to be able to support them. Second, electronic cards need to be completely
distinct from physical cards, hence the need for a separate quality instead
of a different style. All the styles of the card can exist in electronic
form. This is also important for inventory validation during deck
construction, wherein a user wants to validate his deck can be built for
online play vs. physical play.

Ah, okay, I understand the difference better now.

As someone who couldn't make it to the big cons this year, can you clue me in to the other games coming out with online versions? :-P

Only a couple of them have been publicly announced. The one that looks
soonest to be released is Decipher's online LotR product.
