Hi guys, first time poster here. I purchased Hero Lab with the "freebie" license being Mutants and Masterminds. I've since updated and picked up the Pathfinder license as well. My question is:

What steps should I take in purchasing a gift license for a friend who will be GM-ing MnM and Pathfinder? I've attempted to stumble through gift license purchasing, but apparently it requires purchasing the license first, then arranging the license as a gift. Since I already own the license, I can't get around to purchasing it a second time as a gift. What am I doing wrong?

(Note: The GM mentioned above already has Hero Lab with D&D 3.5. I'd like to expand his character/ NPC creation capability)

If the GM already has Hero Lab, then there's currently no way to independently give him access to other game systems as a gift. The only way to add packages to a license is to login with that license and purchase the add-ons for that license. Consequently, this will require him to give you his license number and email address. Alternately, when you next game together, you could have him login at the game site, after which you can make the add-on purchase from within his account using your credit card.

The gift mechanism is currently designed to give Hero Lab itself as a gift - not individual add-ons to an existing license. We've got this on our todo list, but we don't have it implemented yet.

Hey thanks for the reply. You'd have one (or more) very happy customers if you implement the idea Rob I think a successful work-around can be done in the interim.

Has there been any change to the gift purchase for Here Lab? I would like to buy a friend an add-on and have it be a surpirse.

If you know your friends email address, you could sneak a peek at his license #, and then login and buy it for him later.

Supporting gift purchases for add-ons is unfortunately still on our todo list. I don't expect we'll get that handled until sometime after we get Realm Works into Beta testing late this year.
