Is there a way to make the minion entry on the thing conditional?
I want to be able to have vehicles associated with a hero, or have them as a separate character by doing a selection on the configure hero form.
Select that it's a vehicle instead of a hero/npc. Then on the basics tab select the base vehicle type.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Do you mean you want to do things like we do in Shadowrun, where vehicles can be purchased as minions for another character, but also, on the configure hero form, you can choose "Vehicle" as the type of character, and then select the vehicle chassis like you'd select a race?

If that's not what you mean, what do you mean by "conditional"? Under what circumstances would a vehicle minion be added, and what circumstances would it not be added?

Yes like shadowrun.
I'm probably thinking of how to do it incorrectly.
I'm looking at having the configure hero form allow for selecting vehicle.
Then on the basic tab have a chooser to select a vehicle as the base vehicle. I'm expecting the chooser to create a new pick and then because of the pick have a minion created as well. I don't want the minion created.

In Shadowrun, vehicle chassis are just another category of race (although with quite a few differences in what fields the compset includes as opposed to a PC race or even a monster race), so when building a vehicle as its own character, you just set up the blank character, with things set up so that vehicles are the type of race that is shown in the race chooser, or if you add a minion, that bootstraps the right vehicle race within the minion.

ok, thanks.
Just to make sure I fully understand this, there are two things for each vehicle. One as a vehicle that has a minion entry and another as a race that has no minion?

I see in your sig that you're pretty familiar with Shadowrun - I recommend opening Shadowrun's editor and looking at the Vehicles grouping - try copying existing examples, and see what data is entered on each tab - compare the type of data that's being entered on the Vehicle Helper tab (which is what a PC would purchase to buy a drone with minion) and what's entered on the Vehicle tab (which is the race the GM would select if one of those drones was encountered in an adventure, but operating on its own pilot, rather than being the minion of an NPC rigger).
