A new update of the Pathfinder files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

In this update, we have two books from Paizo's Campaign Setting line; Castles of the Inner Sea, and Dragons Unleashed. These have both been added to the existing Campaign Setting #10 package. This package already contains Fey Revisited and Chronicles of the Righteous. This package is available for $4.99.

This update also adds two books from Paizo's Player Companion line; Quests & Campaigns, and Kobolds of Golarion. This is a new package, and is available for $4.99. In a future update, a third Player Companion book will be added to this package (the exact book is still to be determined).

This update also updates the Pathfinder files to the 6th printing core rulebook, and includes several other bug fixes and improvements.

Here's the complete change list, copied from the FAQ:

New Releases!
  • Content from Dragons Unleashed is now available as part of Pathfinder Campaign Setting #10.
  • Content from Castles of the Inner Sea is now available as part of Pathfinder Campaign Setting #10.
  • Content from Quests & Campaigns is now available as part of Pathfinder Player's Companion #11.
  • Content from Kobolds of Golarion is now available as part of Pathfinder Player's Companion #11.
iPad Changes & Bug Fixes
  • The way weapons and armor can be equipped has been improved:
    • A new setting is now included in the "equip weapon" menu - "Not equipped, but shown on main screen". This allows you to flag which of your weapons should be shown on the main screen, even if they're not equipped, so that you can switch between them without going into onto a separate screen.
    • Weapons and armor can now be equipped and de-equipped on the main screen of the app.
    • For most heroes (those with only 2 hands), equipping a weapon or piece of armor automatically de-equips all conflicting weapons & armor. This should make it quicker to switch between weapons on the main screen, as you no longer have to de-equip your previous weapon.
    • The "Equip Weapon" menu now displays its current state using a button with an icon to indicate whether something is equipped in your main hand, both hands, etc.
    • The "Armor" tab now allows you to pick between being equipped, or not equipped and shown/hidden on the main screen, just like weapons.
    • Finally, you can no longer equip a light weapon in both hands. (Previously, Hero Lab would allow you to do it, then report an error.)
Enhancements & Changes
  • Updated the Pathfinder files to incorporate the errata changes from the 6th printing of the core rulebook.
  • Added player content from Pathfinder #71 "Rasputin Must Die".
  • "Spell Mastery for all spellbook users" has been added to the house rules section of the Configure Hero Settings. Turning this house rule on means that an Alchemist, Magus, or Witch can select the Spell Mastery feat.

Bug Fixes
  • If "Use Traits & Flaws" was turned on, the feats and flaws tables on the feats tab were both being placed in the same location, making it hard to use them.
  • Feint is a combat action, not a combat maneuver, but we've incorrectly listed it as a combat maneuver, and let various abilities that choose a particular maneuver to select Feint as the maneuver they affect. All bonuses to feint have been changed to situational modifiers to the bluff skill, and all abilities that previously allowed you to select Feint as an option should now report an error message to prompt the user to select a different maneuver for that ability to affect.
  • The modified skill totals from the Versatile Performance ability were not correct.
  • Darkvision was not showing up on many characters, like Dwarves and Half-Orcs.
  • A lance, held one-handed while mounted, will still calculate damage for the power attack feat as if it were held in both hands.
  • The Thunder & Fang, Natural Jouster, Kapenia Dancer, Dorn-Derger Master, and Quarterstaff Master feats, along with the Phalanx Fighter ability and the Weapon Ease of Use adjustment, when they allow a two-handed weapon to be used in one hand, that weapon still calculates damage for the power attack feat as if it were held in two hands.
  • The Fame and Item Purchase table for Pathfinder Society Characters is not the same as the Fame and Item Purchase table for non-PFS factions. The first entry is at Fame 5, instead of Fame 4, and the table goes up to 99, not 67.
  • The Magic Schools from Inner Sea Magic should not display the Fame and Item Purchase table - unlike normal factions, they don't offer this option.
  • The Boon Companion feat was not displaying the most recent printing of the text for that feat.
  • The archetype tab in the Editor was not correctly allowing secondary bonus feats
  • The Spontaneous Metafocus feat had incorrect bolding of its description text.
  • The Arctic Druid archetype's Snowcaster ability was not marked to show on the Senses line in the output hero statblock.
  • The Monk of the Four Winds archetype's Slow Time ability was not marked to show on the Attack line in the output hero statblock.
  • The Hellknight Prestige Class' Aura of Law ability was not marked to show on the Aura line in the output hero statblock.
  • The Hellknight Signifer Prestige Class' was showing duplicates of many orders, and was not granting a weapon proficiency in one of the order's favored weapon.
  • Most of the racial abilities of true dragons from Bestiary 1 were missing summaries. Similarly the various abilities that apply elemental damage to bite attacks were not doing so.
  • The Blue Dragon's Storm Breath ability had a bunch of text in it's description which shouldn't have been there. Desert Thirst wasn't bootstrapping the {i}Create Water{/i} spell like ability or calculating it's DC. None of the racial abilities displayed had summaries.
  • The Gold Dragon's Weakening Breath ability had a bunch of text in it's description which shouldn't have been there.
  • The Black Dragon's Corrupt Water ability was not setting it's DC.
  • The Glitterdust spell had some unneccessary text at the start, and was missing the save tags.
  • The Fey Creature template (from bestiary 3) was applying maneuverability tags too late for the modifiers for that maneuverability to be applied to the Fly skill.
  • The Silver Dragon's True Courage ability was incorrectly marked as a Sense ability.
  • The Threatening Defender trait was not reducing Combat Expertise' penalty when applied to CMB.
  • Several gods with the Death domain were missing the Murder and Undead subomains as allowed selections.
  • The Spectacles of Understanding were applying a situational bonus to Spellcraft instead of Linguistics.
  • The Background's Resolution table was missing "You Enjoyed It" as an option.
  • The Kensai's Critical Perfection class ability was not applying a situational bonus to attack rolls.
  • The Critical Versatility, Martial Versatility, Martial Mastery, and Shatterspell feats from the ARG were not counting "virtual" fighter levels for the purposes of feats, such as those granted by the magus' fighter training class ability.
  • The Pin Down feat from Ultimate Combat was not counting "virtual" fighter levels for the purposes of feats, such as those granted by the magus' fighter training class ability.
  • The Improved Second Chance feat from the APG was being satisfied at +6 BAB, when it actually required a +11 BAB.
  • The Improved Low Blow feat from the ARG was being satisfied at +1 BAB, when it actually required a +4 BAB.
  • The Quivering Palm Versatility feat from the Dragon Empire Primer was incorrectly increasing Quivering Palm DC by 2.
  • The Quivering Palm Adept feat was still applying a bonus to Quivering Palm DCs even when disabled, as was Stunning Fist Adept.
  • A monk who multiclassed with other classes that offer ki pools (like Ninja) could not select an attribute to use for the Ki Pool.
  • The Bard (Detective)'s Arcane Investigation ability was not functioning.
  • The Bard (Magician)'s Expanded Repertoire ability was not functioning.
  • The New Arcana ability of the Sorcerer's Arcane bloodline was not functioning.
  • The Sorcerer's Seeker archetype wasn't showing the Trapfinding granted by it's Tinkering ability.
  • The Luring Cavalier archetype's Far challenge ability was incorrectly appending text to Challenge. The bonuses are gained "until" the challenged foe hits the cavalier, not "if" the challenged foe hits the cavalier.
  • The Freebooter Ranger archetype's Fast Swimmer ability was applying it's bonus even before the hero reached the level to gain it.
  • The Inner Sea Pirate's Drink for Free class ability was not applying a situational bonus to Diplomacy and Intimidate.
  • Many traits from the Pirates of the Inner Sea source were missing situational modifiers. Fixed traits include: Treasure Mapper, Abolitionist Hunter, Devilfish Diver, Dinosaur Whisperer, Free Spirit, Gold Goblin Regular, Home Port, Pirate Duelist, Pretend Pirate, River Navigator
  • The Fly Spell adjustment was not correctly applying a fly speed.
  • The Vain drawback was applying the situational to skills other than Charisma based ones.
  • The Undead Lord archetype was limiting the cleric to only choosing Undead or Death as a domain. While technically correct, this was a hard limit (the user could not choose to ignore our warning and accept a validation error), which we try to avoid in general. Thus it was changed to not limit domain choices, but still complain if the character lacked the correct domain.
  • The Prisoner's Dungeon Ring magic item had a summary that cut off.
  • The Magical Lineage trait cannot reduce a spell's effective level below its original level.
  • The Defensive Training racial ability was still granting its dodge bonus versus giants when the ability had been replaced by an alternate racial trait.
  • The Backstabber trait wasnt' adding its bonus to damage when flanking.
  • The Bond with the Land alternate racial trait wasn't showing up on the Specials tab or the character sheet.
  • The Aquatic sorcerer bloodline was granting knowledge (dungeoneering) as a class skill instead of swim.
  • Those who owned the Bestiary, but not the ARG, could not select many of the types when creating a monster using the Bestiary Monster Creator.
Data File Authoring
  • The abAdd field (added in 7.13) has been split into two fields - abAdd and abImprove. Values placed into both of these fields are added to any other values on the thing they're on, but abImprove will only be added to the total if there is already a non-zero value, and abAdd will always be added. The test for whether abImprove should be added or not comes after abAdd is added to the total.
  • The Hero.SpontDiv tag has been created. This functions exactly as Hero.SpontArc, and marks heroes which can spontaneously cast divine spells (such as Oracles). This is used in modified pre-reqs on the Dragon Disciple, which checks for SpontDiv if the hero has the Scaled Disciple feat from Kobolds of Golarion.
  • Races can now be marked as Obsolete (and thus unavailable for selection, but not removed) using the Helper.Obsolete tag.
  • There is now a #BAB[] macro. This macro checks the base attack bonus.
  • Added the SaveAbil and SaveOver tag groups (SaveAbil.aSTR, SaveOver.aDEX, etc). Each save has a SaveAbil tag which defines what attribute it defaults to, but appling a SaveOver tag to a save before PostAttr 10000 will switch that save to use a new attribute. This is used for the new Kobold Confidence feat from Kobolds of Golarion as well as a few pre-existing abilities (like the Sidestep Secret Oracle Revelation and the Derro's "Madness" racial ability).
  • The skInnate field on skills has had it's name changed from "Innate Skill Bonuses" to "Innate Skill Ranks". This better reflects that the field stores not a bonus, but the default ranks added by a race. This is only a cosmetic change, nothing has changed mechanically.
  • The Helper.PowTwoHand tag was added. This tag is added to a weapon that should always compute power attack damage as if it were held in two hands, even if it is currently not held that way. For example, a lance can be used one-handed while mounted, but still computes power attack damage as if it were two-handed, so it assigns this tag to itself when it changes the number of hands required to use itself.
  • If the User.NoAutoName tag is assigned to a template that would normally modify the name of the race, the automatic modification of the race's name will be turned off. For example, the Ghast is a Ghoul with the Advanced template (and a few other abiliites), so the Ghast race bootstraps the Advanced template, but does not want the template to rename the race "Advanced Ghast", so it assigns this tag when it bootstraps the template.

Error Problem -- Perhaps related to new update but I'm not sure. I no longer see Paladin as a base class option that I can choose. It seems to have disappeared. I was able to open an old paladin and use that to create a new portfolio. But I'm unable to create a new portfolio and start adding paladin levels. The option for paladins has disappeared. How can I fix? Thanks.

Do you have "Only Valid" selected as the filter for the classes tab? If so, did you select an alignment for this character already? The combination of "Only Valid" with an alignment other than Lawful Good would hide the Paladin for that character.

I've had a bug in about Monk Flurry and Power Attack not calculating correctly for two patches now, any status on that? (The issue is that when flurrying a Monk's BAB is his Monk level, which changes the bonus and penalty for Power Attack and similar feats).

It sounds like a bad version of the data files has been "cached" by your computer. Go to our web site:

http://www.wolflair.com/index.php?co...page=downloads

And download the data files for the game you want, then double-click the downloaded file to import them into Hero Lab. Does that fix your problem?
