Specifically, Topic Views and Article Views are Named Views of Topics (World Almanac content) and Articles (Mechanics Reference content).

The hard separation is between World and Mechanics (Topics and Articles). The Story Almanac is an example Named View (for Topics) that is pre-defined in Realm Works. You can remove it, or change its name.

All Topic are always in the World Almanac, and all Articles are always in the Mechanics Reference. They cannot be removed from those, but they can be added to or removed from the Topic Views and Article Views (respectively).

This is how LWD wanted you to use the World and Story Almanacs originally and Realm Works used to enforce this by only showing a Topic in one or the other. They added custom views later.

You can do some cool stuff with it the way it is now.

Example, create all the spells in the mechanics section and create a custom view called spell book. Add the button to the navigation bar and boom you have a spell book within Realm Works.
