I have attached a portfolio I was working on this evening and I am usually able to figure out - eventually - why something is the way it is in Hero Lab.

However, I am at a loss in this case to answer what seems a simple question - Why is the sansetsukon not a proficient weapon for this monk?

The simple answer is what Hero Lab is telling me - that a Martial Weapon Proficiency is required, but it is listed as a monk weapon. Should he not be proficient with it? Why does the Monk Weapon Proficiencies feat not include all monk weapons?

I believe that the answer may lie in the fact that the weapon in question is not included in the Core Rules, and therefore is not included by default in the feat. I have no experience with editing Hero Lab files directly, so I refrained from even trying to look for the needle in that haystack.

Any responses are welcomed and appreciated! Thank you!

Sadly, a Monk Weapon doesn't mean it is a weapon a monk is proficient with, but one it can flurry with.
This is mentioned in Paizo's FAQ

Just FYI the Unchained Monk is proficient with all "Monk" weapons.

well, just in case anyone is interested, this is how my monk turned out. I'm creating 10th level characters for a campaign that a friend is putting together.

Nice. I like the portrait. Also, never thought of comboing surprise follow through with sneak attack!

Thanks Aaron, I sorta stumbled on that by accident. Hero Lab seems to have all sorts of hidden surprises just waiting for me and my friends to discover!

The one-level fighter and/or rogue 'dip' is pretty common in my group too, seems like it ends up being the best way to get a boost to skill points and class skills most of the time. In this case it solved my weapon problem as well.

I usually just use Google to search for images, sometimes I get lucky thanks
