Also, at least for the ring of spell storing, I don't think that is how it functions in the rules. If I am reading this right, it doesn't add the spell to your list of spells known, it contains a spell that anyone can cast, and can be refilled once expended by casting any spell into it (the same or any other).

For that functionality, it's not something as simple as adding a dropdown, or I would happily do that. The item would have to be rebuilt as a container with a gizmo, similar to the page of spell knowledge, etc. Dwayne enjoys reminding us that we don't have infinite manpower, which is why I offered the solution I did. Not to mention, spending a large amount of effort to satisfy the .001% of users that would actually get this magic item. A lot of wasted time and effort that could be better spent on things that more people would use.
