Editing Existing Race in the Editor

I noticed that the Kitsune starting languages in the ARG were different than the Dragon Empires book. I thought it would be no problem to fire up the editor and just change the languages from Senzar and Tien to Common and Sylvan. I copied the Kitsune Race using the new (copy) option. I left everything as-is other than the languages.

When I loaded the Kitsune-1 race in HL the languages now show up perfectly. Unfortunately much of the other Kitsune specific content doesn't. Specifically, "Add Alternate Racial Traits" and the race specific "Favored Bonus" class options vanish.

I went back and checked my .user file and the Bootstraps for Favored class are there. For a test I even selected the original Kitsune in "Counts as Races..." and it still won't show the correct options. I tried the same methodology for Ifrit-2 (without making any changes at all) and have the same symptoms. What am I doing wrong here?
