I am assuming that hero lab is unable to have characters above level 20. Is that correct and if so is there plans for beyond level 20 in the future?

Hero Labs, at least for d20, can create characters over level 20. However, the support is not complete. This is perhaps something we can work on in the community data sets, but it would require some testing.

So, you can make characters over level 20, our data just doesn't provide any information for most classes beyond 20. Cleric 20/1 Fighter is possible, but 21 Cleric is not.

That is correct. We also don't currently have a way to handle how the BAB and saving throws advance once you reach level 21. It's something I've wanted to work on, but there's a lot of other stuff that still needs to get done for the first 20 levels.

thanks for your response. I was just curious. I have several npcs that are over level 20 and I wanted to use the program. I had a wizard/archmage 20/2. It doesn't work for them however so I'll just have to do it the old school way. :-) I didn't mean to add more work for you guys. You do a great job!

I would like to add the mechanics to support epic level actually. It is part of the SRD so should be included as part of d20. So before you start Sendric it maybe good to wait for some new features.

Hero Lab Resources:
Pathfinder - d20pfsrd and Pathfinder Pack Setup
3.5 D&D (d20) - Community Server Setup
5E D&D - Community Server Setup
Hero Lab Help - Hero Lab FAQ, Editor Tutorials and Videos, Editor & Scripting Resources.
Created by the community for the community
- Realm Works kickstarter backer (Alpha Wolf) and Beta tester.
- d20 HL package volunteer editor.

I was hoping you'd say that.

I've toyed around with feats from the epic level handbook, and some of them I've been able to code, but I've not been able to do some of the stuff that extend the skill focus and spell focus because there doesnt seem to be a way to check for a specific choice.

Both of those feats are, after all hard-coded into the game. The epic level items are also a problem as the game has some hard-codded restrictions on the enhancement bonus applied to weapons and armor.. (or the cost of enhancements) of 10.

I have some ideas of how to handle [caster] classes above 20th level. But those methods would be ductape and packing twine, and because I dont have the time to try them out at the moment-- I have avoided any further work in the ELH beyond what my characters have needed (epic Bracers of armor, cloak of resist.. etc.)

Hello! I know this is an old thread, but I had the same question as the original author. I am not able to multiclass above 20 for some reason. Do you know if the "settings" changed? I'm presently level Fighter10/Rogue10. I want to go up in fighter, but adding a level doesn't allow me to go any further under classes. Am I doing something wrong?

I just created a Hero with 10 levels each of Fighter and Rogue. I had no problems adding another level of Fighter. In fact I alternated adding Fighter and Rogue levels until level 32 with all Class abilities, etc.
Checks: Are you using Classic d20? (I note a lot of your other posts are 5th Edn) Do you have a full account or are you using Demo?

Current RPG's: Pathfinder (GM), Pathfinder (Player), Gamma World (GM, Pathfinder homebrew).
HeroLab: 3.5 & Pathfinder. HL User Files for PF: Greyhawk Setting, Gamma World (WIP).

DM and player of D&D since 1980.
