I am new to the Authoring Kit. I wanted to play around with it, but I was wondering if instead of the skeleton files I could modify a more complete set of files for a game system based closely on D&D 3.5? It would be a lot easier than having to write the code myself.

The source code for packaged games like Pathfinder and 3.5 is not available to be copied. The example game systems that come with the authoring kit (and can be copied) are 4th edition and Savage Worlds.

And if you poke around, you'll find projects others have done. I want to say that 1E and 2E have been addressed.

If your game is quite similar to 3.5, perhaps you could start witha copy of the 3.5 system, and modify that. It would be much easier than starting from scratch with the Auth. Kit.
Current RPG's: Pathfinder (GM), Pathfinder (Player), Gamma World (GM, Pathfinder homebrew). HeroLab: 3.5 & Pathfinder. HL User Files for PF: Greyhawk Setting, Gamma World (WIP). DM and player of D&D since 1980. |

Mathias already said you couldn't copy that system. The source code files are hidden in it so copying it wouldn't work. The developer would have to start coding 3.5 from scratch.
RavenX Pronouns: She/Her Please do not PM me to inquire about datafiles I coded "for personal use" such as Exalted, World of Darkness, AD&D, or Warhammer 40K Roleplaying. I appreciate your interest, but I do not own the Intellectual Property rights to these game systems. Nor do I have permission from any of the Publishers to distribute the data files. As such, I cannot distribute the work I have done with community on these files. They are "for personal use" only. Thank you. I am far too busy these days to answer emails. If you message me here there is no guarantee I will get back to you at all. |
