Late Friday, we released a new version of Realm Works intended to resolve data corruption issues that affected some users due to our major update earlier in the week. The Friday bug fix release did not work as intended. While the new version did resolve the desired issues, syncing with the server promptly overwrote those fixes, effectively undoing the fixes. While we went through our various pre-release tests, they inadvertently masked this problem and it wasn’t made apparent until after it was released to the public.

Once we became aware of the issue, our team has worked through the weekend on a new release to properly resolve the problem, which we’re now testing. If you were one of the users affected by this issue, you’ll need to repeat the process of reverting to the auto-created backup from Monday’s release with the upcoming bug fix update. This means that if you’ve already restored your backup and made updates within Realm Works since Friday’s release, those changes will be lost. Knowing the inconvenience and frustration that this will cause the affected users, our team is working to get the new update out Sunday, October 18th.

We truly apologize for the trouble this will cause affected users, and we appreciate your patience as our team works on getting this fixed. If you have any questions about this upcoming build, or the effects of the upgrade to build 203, please ask them below. Our team will be focused on getting the update out as quickly as possible, and we’ll answer your questions as soon as we can.

NOTE! If you were not impacted by the data corruption issues, this situation does not affect you, and you can disregard the need to revert to a backup. Similarly, if you’ve made extensive changes to your realm since the Friday release, you can choose to proceed with your existing data, although be mindful of the potential ramifications that are outlined in the build 203 release notes.

The new Realm Works upgrade is now available. This update should properly resolve the problem of the server overwriting the fixes of data corruption. Thank you for your patience, as we worked to get this fix out!

If you encounter any new issues following this update, please update your support ticket by sending a follow-up email or send us a new bug report.
