Basically, cards are sorted by color (White, Blue, Black, Red, Green,
Artifact, then Land) then numbered alphabetically. In Darksteel, just to
give you starting numbers for each color to demonstrate:
Auriok Glaivemaster (white) is #1
Carry Away (blue) is #19
Aether Snap (black) is #37--note that AE is part of the A's alphabetically
Barbed Lightning (red) is #55
Ageless Entity (green) is #73
AEther Vial (artifact) is #91--and is before #92 Angel's Feather
Blinkmoth Nexus (land) is #163

These numbers all come off the individual cards (I have a complete set of DS
in hand).

There's also the fact that, since 2/20/04, Darksteel has been legal in
Standard, but the cards come up as illegal in CV.

I need to research this and get back to you. I leave town on a business
trip tomorrow, so I'll get to it when I return this weekend.

Thanks for your patience,
Rob

This problem is due to the spoiler data on the Wizards website omitting
card numbers. When this occurs, the numbering is inferred based on the
sequence in which the cards are listed (which was valid for a few older
sets).

Now that Wizards has officially approved Card Vault, we're going to be
taking over doing the data files for Magic ourselves. I'll see about
getting this fixed in new release of the data files. What I need is an
accurate list of what the card numbers are supposed to be, so please point
me to a good source of that info.

Thanks, Rob

Hmmm. Good point. They weren't legal when the files were released, but they
sure are now. I'll make sure that gets fixed as well.

Thanks, Rob
