* * * At this point in time, this is completely useless for creating a Traveller 5 character * * *
(As of Feb. 21, 2013)

Full set of files:
http://www.ai6k.com/herolab/t5/trave...P_20121004.zip

Link (for HL source input):
http://www.ai6k.com/herolab/t5/t5updates.xml

Steps:
1. Start Hero Lab
2. Click 'Find Updates'
3. Click 'Add Source'
4. Click 'New Source'
5. Copy/Paste link
6. Click 'OK'
7. Click 'OK'
8. Click 'Finished'
9. Exit completely out of Hero Lab
10. Start Hero Lab
11. Click 'Find Updates'
12. Select Traveller 5 from the list
13. Click 'Download'

If you need help from here, I'll continue these steps further along in the development cycle.

Permission to create this project has been granted by Marc 'Traveller' Miller

I emailed Marc 'Traveller' Miller, after reading their Fair Use Policy (FUP).
http://www.farfuture.net/FFEFairUsePolicy2008.pdf

Here's Marc's response:
>>I think this is a great project and I encourage you under our Fair Use
>>Program to pursue it.

>>I think you should put the FFE FUP statement in a file with the
>>distribution, and if possible put the abbreviated statement on the character
>>sheet somewhere.

>>Please let me know of your progress.

I've already put the full text of the FUP in a dialog box that pops up when the user selects Traveller 5 from the Game System choices. (definition.def)

If you're thinking about trying to create a new Game System for Hero Lab, here's a video (currently without sound, have to splice some in) that shows the initial steps.
Start a new Game System in Hero Lab

Sounds great. Just let me know how I can help. I have been a big fan of Traveller since it came out back in 77. Still have all the original book in fact.

Actually a few of us in the community are starting an new initative to provide help for HL users. As part of that we wanted to do some help for the Authoring Kit as well.. If you would like to talk about it this project of your would be a great on to document and provide as an example to the user community. If you're interested just let me know.

Since I don't have the books yet (Kickstarter is saying December), I'm just getting some testing under my belt.

I'm using the original books as a starting point, just to get my feet wet.

I've Exported what I've done so far, and put it on my website for people to take a look at.

This is probably useless for 99.9% of Hero Lab users, if not 100% completely useless.

In addition to the exported data, I'd like to eventually put the entire project on my site.

For now, if you want to play around with it (yea, like that's gonna happen), add this to your sources:

http://www.ai6k.com/herolab/t5/t5updates.xml

After you stop and restart Hero Lab, you'll see an entry called Traveller 5 in the update list.

For an external source (ie, my Traveller 5 files), is there a setting in the xml file to let users know there's an update, or is this feature only for official sources?

I think I already know the answer, since I don't seem to ever get messages that the Pathfinder Community files have been updated.

With this do I need to create a new Game System called Traveller? Not sure where to put in this link, since it seems that the link is empty.

All I did was put the link in herolab and then downloaded it the same as you download herolab content and it made the folder for me - no problems at all. works fine.

3) New Source
4) enter link
5) Click ok
6) click Finish
7) Close Herolab and restart
8) Click Find Updates
9) Download traveller like any other update - it made a new folder for it.

Thanks jbearwillis!

I'll edit the first post, and put those steps so it's the first post somebody new will see.

Thanks. I'll load it up and take a look at it. For Traveller though, have you thought of the T20 system instead? It would be a lot easier to create. Even the New Era would be easier to do in my option.
