Big WK changes

Hello, Lone Wolf guys,

There are several new WK games out along with big changes upcoming in other games. I don't know how much they tell you guys, so I thought I'd give you some info on the new games and the big changes.

Firstly, ShadowRun came out back in May. It's whole speil is that it's the world's first "action figure" game. Which basically means that figures average about 6 inches tall with a base 5 inches wide. It's a non-collectible game in that each figure is sold seperately, however, each comes with certain "Gear". Instead of building an army of figures, you play with a team of a couple figures and use the gear to augment your team. There are only about 9 figures available now, with more coming in December, so datafiles for this game could be put on the back burner for now.


Secondly, Creepy Freaks is soon to be released. This is a game played on a square grid, and it's closest relative is Heroclix. It's aimed mainly at children, and gameplay is very basic. I don't know much of anything about the game, so I'm not sure how useful datafiles would be.


Thirdly, Indyclix (the latest Heroclix sub-game) is set to be released October 1st. New "teams", team abilities, etc. will be in evidence, along with possible changes to the way the game is played. This is expected to be the biggest HC set so far, so having available datafiles would be very important.


D. This is the big one, Mage Knight will undergo drastic changes with the November release of the next set, tentively titled "Mage Knight 2.0"

Amongst the changes:

1. The way the combat dial is designed will change, as well as they way abilities are handeled.

2. There will be new Factions and "Sub-Factions."

3. Mage Knight 2.0 introduces several new speed, attack, defense, and damage types, and some have their own proficiencies (abilities that are tied to a specific type.) Some of these used to be special abilities (such as flight or aquatic), while some are all-new.

4. Every starter and booster will now contain a randomly inserted Relic, Constructed Terrain, or Domain piece.
Relics represent powerful items that Unique figures can use during the game, like enchanted weapons, armored helmets, and arcane spell books. Relics are removable tokens that can be placed in a slot on a unique figure's base, to show that the figure is carrying the relic. Relics will cost points when building your army, much as figures do.

Constructed Terrain pieces can be assembled to form barricades, tents, towers, and fences that alter the area of play. Each player is permitted to bring two pieces of constructed terrain into play for each game.

Domains feature a rule that changes the environment of the game. Each player is permitted to select one domain at random before the start of a game. An example of a domain might be one that announces a battlefield is smothered by fog, so that figures must be in closer proximity to see and attack each other.

So basically, Relics, Constructed Terrain, and Domains will be new things to collect and will be an important aspect of building your army, and will therefore need to be included in the datafiles.

5. Fundamental chages to the way the game is played will take effect, though what those changes are is unknown.

6. And all this will somehow be completely compatible with all previous MK products.

There may be more changes they haven't clued us into yet, but there will certainly need to be a lot of work done to get the 2.0 datafiles out in a timely manner.
