Greetings all...
I'm new to Hero Lab, so I'm sorry if this question may sound stupid. I'm an old eTools user and am looking to move onto a new, SUPPORTED, system for my games. I'm very glad I found Hero Lab. During many of my games, I need to whip up a quick NPC of a given race and class. eTools has a nice feature where it "randomly" generates an NPC of a given race/class/alignment. Does something like this appear in Hero Lab? It just makes my life easier as a GM so I don't have to carry around a giant library of pre-generated/printed NPCs. Thanks for any help you can give. -GP |

Hero Lab won't randomly create an NPC for you. Most of the old tools for randomly creating NPCs ended up with truly random results that were often not very usable, and writing a tool that creates an intelligently designed - yet random - NPC is quite a lot of work. And we haven't done that yet.
One thing that Hero Lab *does* include is all of the stock NPCs from the DMG. You can easily start with one of the stock NPCs and tweak it a little bit to your needs. Simply go to the Portfolio menu and select the Import Stock Hero option. Another thing you can do is create your own library of pre-generated NPCs within Hero Lab. You can create the NPCs as individual portfolios or you can put multiple related NPCs into the same portfolio. At game time, you quickly import an NPC from one of these portfolios and have it available during play. Hope this helps.... |
