Hi all,
Have I missed some news?
8th is on the marked for quite some time and I have not heard anything about a data file.

Any word on that?

You can post with the rest of us in the 40K forum but the team that worked on 7th has gone silent, even on their own website. Remember that LWD only supply the program. Any data files have to be developed by individuals who want to use a particular game system.

As a wise man said once: "If the traditional file designers don't want to do this file, it's time for a new generation of designers to appear."

So, uh, anyone know how to work with this stuff?
I'd be willing to help with a new AB40K project.

Sorry, I do not have the time to spare. Work consumes most of my time and frankly, the 5 hours I have to spare each month I would prefer to spend playing not programming.

per their FB page, a reply they posted on 6/25:

"As to 8th edition, unfortunately I can't give you an update yet as we don't have an ETA. A major change like this does take time, and the team have jobs and families to spend time with. Further updates will be posted, but you'll just have to patient."

But yeah, they haven't responded to other posts since...

Hopefully they get it done in the next couple months. I'm not a particularly huge fan of BattleScribe (tho it's tolerable).

I've been building a very basic framework but haven't made it very far yet. I used to work on the 40k files back in the days of 3rd and 4th editions but took a long break from the game. Setting up stuff like detachments is a very new concept to me, so I haven't even taken a whack at that aspect yet. At the basic level, it's a ton of data entry, so very slow and tedious.

Try looking at the Formation data in 7. That should be a food foundation to build new detachments from.
