Your trying to copy non OGL material, thus you cannot just copy and adjust then save.

What you do is then start a blank item and use this as a guide.

So when this happens you have to make your own from scratch, but this works well as a guide.

I thought everything Paizo was OGL? Isn't that the point?

OGL does not have anything to do with coding. OGL covers "game" rules in Text Format. Your not paying LW for Text Game rules in HL your paying for the many man hours to code/script game rules.

So those scripts and programming code is protected. Otherwise I could buy say the ACG and then simply do a "new(copy)" of all the mechanics into a .user file. Then share that .user file with all my players.

So LW does a very nice method of you can still view the mechanics and if you wish to copy/paste each individual setting over to a New Thing you can. So if you just want to change one class ability or one feat it can be done. But trying to do that for say the Bestiary book is going to be thousands of hours of work and not worth the cost.

Allot people think the OGL covers scripting/programming which is why they get so upset that HL costs money.

Except you can't copy it. You have to type it out manually. Anyway I got the info, thanks.

What are you seeing that you can't copy? I see I have access to the fields, tags, and scripts. If I highlight a tag id I can copy/paste it onto a New Thing. Same for fields and scripts.

So not following why you say "can't copy"?

Right so simply copy and paste each setting. No you can't do the "whole" thing but you can each individual setting.

In other words, you can "manually" copy, just cant "copy" with the copy button.

You do a new (copy) for your reference (that cannot be saved)
You do a new (blank) for the item to cut and paste into.

If you're running windows, its much easier to do if you simply run two different instances of HeroLab. (mac its generally much harder to run two instances at the same time)
