Good day, Terry.

If you run "abundef" from the command prompt with no parameters, you will
see the syntax required to input the password that the original author
provided. Once this has been done, you can change the password to something
you'd prefer in the datadef file.

Sorry if I am way off-base, I've only been kind of following this thread.
:-)

Cheers.

I did take them over from the original creator. He did give me the
password
for the datadef file. I'll contact him and ask if he can open them up.
Will
he be able to do that and preserve my additions or will he only be able to
do it with his last version?

How does the individual computer affect the files? I use several at
different times.

Subject: Conundrum....

I got all of the basic units in ABCreator just fine.
Most of the units in OGRE have a single weapon and the stats for
Attack/Defense/Range. Then I went to put in some OGRE stats and that's when
I discovered a problem.

OGRES can have more than one weapon and they each have different stats.

For ex.

OGRE MK VI

3 Main Battery (Attack 4, Range 6", Defense 3)
6 Secondary Battery (Att. 3, Rng. 4", Def. 3)
16 Antipersonnel (Att. 1, Rng. 2", Def. 1)
2 Missile Racks (Def. 4)
20 Missiles (Att. 6, Rng. 10")
72 Tread units.

(each loss of 12 tread units drops it move by 1")

All weapons have the same characteristics, no matter if it's on a MK I or a
MK VI chassis. The larger the OGRE the more weapons it can carry.

So my problem is, how do I duplicate the stats for each weapon on each
version?

I have searched the manual and must appologize up front if I missed it....

Your best bet is probably to make the weapons with Options with their
stats written into the descriptions. You can then add the weapon option
links to the appropriate Ogre units and they can be printed out with the
roster. This is how the Battlefleet Gothic files were created, so check
those out.

That works fine for the datadef file but it is the data files themselves
which are locked. There is no undef equivalent to ABdata.

Only the author, on the computer he locks them can unlock them.
