I'm trying to build a character similar to the Wasp -- shrinking, flight, power blast. She is PL 9.
I've been trying to figure out a way to get this to work with HeroLab and not get a PL cap validation error. Originally I tried to do it as two containers... one for normal size and one for small size. Like so... Container (small size) Shrinking 20 (Full Power) Vibration Control 6 *The Vibration Control of 6 puts her exactly at her attack/damage PL cap. Container (normal size) Enhanced Trait 3 (Attack Focus: Ranged feat) Enhanced Trait 3 (Attack specialization: Vibration Control feat) Vibration Control 9 *The combination of Enhanced Traits feats combined with VC 9 puts her at her attack/damage PL cap. However, even with all of the normal sized powers unchecked, HL is still throwing a PL cap error when I check the small sized powers. Is there a way to get this to work, or will this just be a cause of HL being a bit *too* thorough and me having to just ignore the validation error in this case? Thanks! |

It works for me if I have an array with two containers in it. Trying to do a container and then an AP of the other container raises an error due to the difficulty of getting the Vibration Control powers to turn off.

I didn't do one as an AP of the other. I did them as two separate containers.
I'll try the array with two containers in it to see if that works. Thanks! |

How did you set it up?
I did two containers in an array and it's still giving me a PL cap error. |

Powers:
Array 18 (default power: Normal Size) . . Normal Size (Container, Passive 7) . . . . Enhanced Trait 6 (Feats: Attack Focus (ranged) 3, Attack Specialization 3 (Vibration Control 9)) . . . . Vibration Control 9 (DC 24) . . Small Size (Container, Passive 7) . . . . Shrinking 20 (-20 STR, -5 Toughness, -5 size categories, 1/16 movement speed) . . . . Vibration Control 6 (DC 21) Attack Bonus: +0 (Ranged: +3, Melee: +0, Grapple: +0) Attacks: Unarmed Attack, +0 (DC 15), Vibration Control 6, +3 (DC 21), Vibration Control 9, +9 (DC 24) ---- There's a validation error when both of them are turned on, of course, but it you turn on one or the other, it works fine. |

Yeah, that's what I'm getting. Even with all of the 'normal size' stuff unchecked, HL is still 'seeing' it and throwing an error when I have Shrinking checked. I can ignore the message in this case. I just thought maybe I was doing something wrong.
Thanks! |

You don't, by chance, have anything in your Library, do you? I've seen that give errors in the past, especially before the release that allowed you to ignore those Library powers.

Nope. No Library powers, if by that you mean things set up using the Library tab. I think this is just a case of HL being a bit *too* thorough, which is a good thing in general.

Huh. Well, my advice would be to send it into the bug log so that they can make sure it gets fixed.

Since Wasp to my knowledge has access to her stinger blasts and flight only when shrunk, why not use alternate form type powers? You know, one for when she's giant sized (which she rarely did) and one for her insect size?
