Another Realm Works Beta release can now be downloaded (build 0.9.101.144). This version is available to all Beta team members AND all Kickstarter backers. This new Beta includes a few bug fixes and enhancements. Please note that syncing is now open to Pack Hunter and above.

Important general items about this release:
  • This release fixes a wide range of bugs that have been plaguing various users and also addresses some limitations that certain users were encountering.
  • The server requires this release to be able to sync to it. You should still be able to run the old version offline. But to sync, you will need to upgrade to this version.
  • Working offline does not require entering a password. Any password you've entered will be ignored when you click the "Work Offline" button.
  • If you encounter any crashes, please send the crash reports so we can figure out the problem and fix it quickly. Be sure to include a description of what you were doing prior to the crash, as that will help us figure out the problem significantly faster.
  • If you have encountered the "Too many realm starting points defined" error, please make sure to contact support. If you have contacted support already, please send a reply to us letting us know you are still having the problem with this release.

Here's a list of the important enhancements and bug fixes in this release:
  • If you sync to the cloud across multiple computers and changes are detected both locally and on the server for a given realm, this release now will show a dialog allowing you to pick which changes to keep - those you made locally or the changes made on the server. When you select to use the local version, the realm data on the server will be deleted and overwritten with what is in your realm locally. If you select to use what is on the server, the realm data locally will be deleted and overwritten with what is in your realm on the server. This behavior applies to a single realm at a time. NOTE! Be careful with your selection as we CANNOT recover your data if you make a mistake!
  • For those of you who have been getting the 301 error, you should now be able to resolve things smoothly using the "overwrite" option outlined above.
  • We now persist the list of fonts you have most recently used and restore it on your next start of Realm Works. This will allow you to see the fonts you have used most recently at the top of the font selection.
  • We now are allowing rich text formatting for stat blocks. As part of this, stat blocks are being converted and stored as RTF text instead of plain text.
  • External rich text data is now being converted and stored as RTF format, even if you brought it in originally in some other format (e.g. from Microsoft Word or Open Office).
  • Fixed some crashes happening when you saved after deleting a smart image and deleting a snippet with an embedded link at the same time. This crash and several that appear to be related should now be fixed.
  • Various other crashes have been fixed
  • Various menus have been reviewed and revised to improve usability
  • In some of the confirmation dialogs, they did not size properly to fit the text. This should now be fixed.
  • You can now reset your password, even when installing on a new computer for the first time.
  • Checking for new versions can now be triggered from the Help ribbon page.

The details for accessing this new release are the same as previous ones. All the rules for access and accounts are unchanged. Please report any issues to us and we'll work to get things fixed as quickly as possible.
