Adept Power points at creation

Shadowrun 5e

During the character creation process how do I purchase more power points with karma?

I tried simply adding more adept powers but everything goes red and it does not subtract anything from my karma.

Sorry if this question has been asked before. Im new to the program and this my first post.

P.S. Great tool. I am loving it.

I'm not aware of any rules in 5th edition that allow you to alter the number of power points you get, other than by changing your Magic attribute. Which rules are you referring to?

(Or after character creation, by gaining a power point instead of a metamagic).

Rommel,

Only Mystic Adepts can purchase power points, at the cost of 5 karma per power point. You simply make sure that your Magic priority is set to one that allows a Mystic Adept, and then add whatever Adept powers you want on the Magic tab. HeroLab automatically calculates the amount of karma needed.
