Adding weapons to races

So I've been trying to figure out how ensure that an NPC automatically is equipped with its weapons. I thought, I could employ a race which provides an example, but I couldn't find one where the mentioned weapons a part of the created character. Is it possible to ensure those weapons are there? Or is this a weakness of HeroLab in general?

Predefined monsters are imported as full portfolios, so the weapons would be equipped inside that portfolio. There is no mechanism (that I'm aware of) which would auto-equip weapons.

Does this also go for the rest of the equipment? Like shields?

While there may be an example I'm not aware of, the races in HL do not come with any armor, weapons, or gear of any kind, at least when you create a new hero. You have to add all gear yourself.
If you import a hero/race through the encounter builder then it should have standard equipment.
