Greetings all,
I've made some good headway in learning how to create custom classes, races, etc... However, I have run into a problem that is exposing a bigger hole in my understanding. Per several recommendations here, I have made customizations with Eval Scripts by finding an existing object with a similar script and just cut-n-paste it into my object, making any adjustments as necessary. However, I am trying to add the Amphibious Template (from Stormwrack) to my system and am having a problem with the addition of the movement type, Swim. I can't seem to find another template that adds a movement type AND rate in the same way this one does. What I really need here is something that will help me learn that actual scripting language and syntax that the eval scripts are written in. Is this documented somewhere? I have looked in the Help files and haven't been able to find anything that goes into detail on the Eval Scripting system. Thanks in advance for any help I receive! -GodPole |

I just located the Authoring Kit Wiki...I think this will help out a lot!
If anyone has any other tips or tools, I would appreciate them, but I think I might be ok for the time being. -GP |

I'm guessing you want a swim speed = land speed (perhaps * 1/2 or *2)?
If so, the Black-Blooded template that's in one of the Adventure Path issues does that. Make a copy of it in the editor, copy both of its scripts (remember that the phase and priority set at the top of each script is important), then delete the copied template. Also make sure you add Swim Speed in the bootstraps button, the way that template does. If you just want a fixed swim speed, the way a template sets a swim speed doesn't differ from the way a race sets a swim speed, so copy a race with a swim speed, like a crocodile or an octopus, and see how they add a swim speed. The primary reference for the d20 files is available through the help menu in the editor - select "Help on Using the Editor", and look through the tutorials there, then check out the "Reference Information" and "How To - Examples" sections. |
