Every time you import content from a publisher you will need to scan for new links to see if that has created new connections inside old content from that publisher. There really isn't another option.

With the correct export information in the file, I understand that the link will be remembered so that if you import Bestiary 2 (which has the above text) and then import Bestiary 1, the link will correctly be made between Bestiary 2 text and the entry in Bestiary 1 (without the need to do a re-scan).

Yes, this should work assuming Bestiary 1 and Bestiary 2 are both exported from the same realm in the first place and have the link already created.

I specifically wrote new connections. Existing connections will be maintained from import to import. However new links have to be created by scan for new links.
