I love the Dropbox integration in the latest iPad release. Now if we could also drag .hl files into the Dropbox folder and have the app recognize them as new updates, I'd never have to mess around with iTunes again!

You can download the .hl file updates from inside the app (as long as you've got internet access) - there's no need to transfer the updates from your computer.

Thanks Mathias - I wasn't sure anyone was still using this thread, so I re-posted my question in the main forum. Anyway, I'm talking about my own editor customizations, not the official updates. Is there a way to get my homerules .hl file onto the iPad without going through an iTunes sync?

In Hero Lab's Help menu, choose "Hero Lab Manual", then "Distributing Data Files". Follow those instructions to set up a download site for your files.
On the iPad, on the updates page, use the "Add New Update Source" button to set up the update source once you've got that working. |

Hmmm ... this shouldn't be hard, but I'm doing something wrong. I copied my .hl file over to Dropbox and saved the URL. I then created the xml file using "Generate Updates XML", and gave it the .hl file's URL when prompted, then copied that XML file over to dropbox, and used its URL for a New Update Source. But when I check for updates, it gives me an "Error while retrieving ..." the XML file.
Any ideas? Thanks! |
