I know I have a old Laptop. Still windows xp, on an old Core 2 duo 2Ghz.
But can I do soomething to speed up RW? It takes 2 second, sometimes 4 to open a tab and get the data. Which is very long during the game play in order to get the information I need. And my realm is still very small. Don't tell me I have to buy a new Laptop just for this (I have a work PC, brand new, but as no way I can install RW on a external drive, I'm stuck with this old PC) Any idea? |

I'd like the solution to be self-contained, portable installs....

I have the same problem.
It really does take a lot of time to switch tabs. |

It's mostly the same on my machine built for gaming and software development.* LWD has acknowledged it as something they'd like to improve.
* Core i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD, blah blah. |

Same here, though LWD squashing slowness over different releases has increased speed, then it decreases on other releases.
* Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, i7, 32 GB RAM, SSD over here. |

OK. Thanks for the answers. I don't need to buy a new computer then, nice...

To reiterate what others have said, this is something we know is an issue and would like to improve in the near future.
For older machines, it's likely that switching between tabs will never be instantaneous, but our hope is to make it much snappier than it is now. |

For me it helps to pre-load tabs that I know I will use during the session. I know that's not always possible, but it helps.

Just to add to this a little. My laptop I use for DMing is a very old 7 years I think. Its a duel core 2.2ghz CPU with 4gigs of memory and the video card may have 256 memory. Its currently running Win 7 x64 Ultimate and I use it to run RW, DMF, music software, about 3-4 PDFs open and a web browser during the game.
So I often have about 5-9 tabs open in RW and it has the player view displaying on a 30inch monitor for the players at all times. Yes its not lighting fast but its more than fast enough to run all the above. So if a duel core CPU is working without issues anything newer should be flying. I could upgrade but the old laptop works and RW is much better sense beta days.
