old licences

I have an old licence for Army Builder version 1.4d. It worked fine with the version 2 Army Builder programs, but I can't seem to get it to work with version 3. Do I have to get a new license, or is there a way to get the old one to work?

Uh, I thought Lone Wolf made it very clear that upgrading from AB1 or AB2 to AB3 was NOT free.
