My HL indicated there was a new update available and downloaded it from within the software. However, my Norton immediately removed the update as it detected a 'Heur.AdvML.C' Heuristic Virus. Yet when I download the install file from http://www.wolflair.com/index.php?context=hero_lab, it scans as clean.

It's a false positive, annoyingly common with heuristic scanning by antivirus software. (This isn't an actual virus, it's just "something kinda looks like a virus, maybe.") Report it to Symantec at their False Positive Reporting Page.

Thank you for reporting this. I've alerted our dev team.

I kinda of figured, but thought it best to let the devs know about it.

I figured it was a false positive too. I also figure that a report from LWD to Symantec would carry more weight than a report from a user.
As of this moment, Symantec is still detecting the false positive. I just did a live update so my defs are current.

Actually it's better if people using the anti-malware software report it. Symantec is going to want to know which software, version, definitions, OS, etc. are causing you problems. (Those questions start on the second page of their reporting site.) LWD isn't going to know that without asking you the same questions.

FYI for everyone... I temporarily disabled my Norton Auto-Protect, loaded HL, and was able to download and install the 8.7 patch.

I submitted a copy of the file to symantec today. A few hours later, they emailed me to say that Hero Lab 8.7 has been analyzed and will be removed from their "bad program list" (my wording, not theirs). It could take a bit of time, though (up to 24 hours).
