Wouldn't it be easier to just conceal all lies and half truths again, once the truth has been revealed?

Sure, but remember this is also a discussion of "from a Players Edition" perspective. They may or may not know what that "truth is" at the time, but may THINK something is true. And IMC some "truths" have taken literal years to disclose.

IMC the PCs have a trusted ally and adviser that had an arranged marriage in her youth to one of the primary antagonists in the campaign. She modified her name (good job LWD for the alias part in the program) and her family has since went to great lengths to burry knowledge of the event. But recent events in the campaign has started to bring pieces of this to the surface. The PCs do not know this part of her past, but do know her family's connection to their enemy. They have wrongly assumed it is her sister informing on them. Which, of course, is straining relations all around. The adviser hates that her sibling is being accused, but is unwilling to disclose the truth for fear of the reaction she is already witnessing. She needs the PCs support. Her Sister, already a caustic person, is even more so for being falsely accused, but has to maintain the "family secret".

This subterfuge has been in the making for 25 literal years.... but due to other campaign elements, changing of players, the details have never been fully visited and information from the PC perspective has been lost..... only recently a bard in the campaign has begun alittle research on a related item and has come across some information that is casting just a hint of light on this past. She hasn't disclosed this to anyone because it cannot be substantiated yet, but feels it explains a lot of the dynamics the group is aware of.

Semi-Unrelated note here> This is where the ability to reveal not only "Truths" but revealed snipits on a single player basis (or even better on a single PC basis) what info is known by whom. And is one of the major reasons I have yet allowed RW and now the player's edition "loose" within our campaign. There is simply too many long laid plot elements I don't want ALL to have since they don't ALL have them.

You still need to know any revealed lies, because other NPCs might still believe them - and might still be spreading them. Knowing who knows each lie can help in figuring out where information is leaking.
