I'm new to HL and i've got a problem finding monsters within the Encounter Builder. I have HL 7.6b, d20 system 5.7, and the Community Source 1.17
When I start up the Encounter Builder, it doesn't have an option to "Add Stock Hero". I CAN add stock NPCs (fighters, monks, their familiars, etc.) but when I try to find something as simple as a dragon, I can't. Another red flag is that the library is only 375 entries, which is ridiculously small. What have I done wrong? |

Nothing. d20 does not currently have stock files for the Bestiary monsters. The community has been working on adding some but it is not finished yet.
Some "future" update will hopefully add this feature but it does not currently exist. Yes, I started the process of creating the stock portfolios. However, while doing them I discovered issues with how the monster races were done, so I switched tasks. I will be going through that and making some updates. This is a slow process, so please bear with me while I go through it all. I am still planning on making those portfolios, but it will be a bit longer than expected.

Thanks for the replies. So, at the risk of being outed as a n00b, how (or is it possible) to add any kind of monsters to the Encounter Builder?

So if you use HL to build a goblin and equip it with gear save the .por file to that folder. After that the encounter builder will find it and index it. You can then use it to build encounters. ShadowC - just to verify; there are only about 450 monsters in all those 3.5 books? I'm not doing something wrong and missing them?
And I have to use the editor to create them, I can't make a monster "hero", since there isn't a "monster" option for Class Levels? |

Well now, wait... upon further poking around...
I have to choose the RACE first, which HAVE been loaded, and then I can CREATE the goblin, correct? |

Correct. A stock file means that equipment and other misc values would be setup for you and saved. Those have not been done yet. But the "monster" itself is in HL but you have to add the race and then add things like Equipment or specific skills like Knowledge (Arcana).
