I can't tell you how happy I was to read in your State of the Wolf report that Mac native versions of Hero Lab and Army Builder are on the horizon. Lack of native Mac support is the primary motivation for dismissing your products up to this point.

However, since I am of the impatient variety and have the good fortune to have a smoking new MacBook Pro with a Parallels based Windows 7 virtual machine on it I was wondering:

If I buy HL, PC version, now, would I have to re-purchase it in the future to get the Mac version?

I saw in the "Mac OS" thread that as of last fall, the intention was to make licenses OS-agnostic, but now that we are so much closer to the beta test and release, has this remained the case?

Any info you all can provide would be appreciated,

Dan

Read that.

Have you confirmed whether this will work in reality and not just theory as the post says? Or are you not at that stage?

That's disappointing. I was really tempted to pull the trigger on this today since I need to get ready for a game on Sunday.

I guess pen and paper will persist for a few more months.

Bump on the license question. I will buy HL the moment I get a confirmation that my license will be valid for the Mac version when it arrives. Please do keep us informed!

I would hope that this applied for both the Software and the datasets?

Army Builder data files are totally independent from the software itself - you license the AB software, not the data files.

I'm going to try and get an official statement on the mac licensing stuff for the newsletter this month, so keep an eye on that for further details.

They had the Mac version running at their booth, sitting side by side one running on a PC at their booth.

I had all the tabs and functionality of the PC version, (in fact it looks very similar to the pc version). If it hadn't been for the mac title bar, I would have been hard pressed to tell the difference.

I kicked the tires, but they warned that they are still testing the full engine and database integration, so it wasn't ready for a test drive, but would be RSN (that means Real Soon Now for all you people that hate acronyms. )

I forgot to ask them about licensing issues.
