Is the Monster/NPC category only for creatures from the bestiary? I thought the idea in PF2 was that we could stat up an enemy wizard much faster than it would take to build one from scratch using PC rules, but I was stymied at the start by not being able to select “human” as an ancestry for a new NPC.

Bumping because my son just pointed out the same problem in HLO for Starfinder. I'll check the HLO-SF forums and post there as well. Is it possible that we're just missing something obvious?

If you're familiar with the monster/NPC creation rules from PF1, then I recommend you study the monster/NPC creation rules in SF/PF2 - they've changed quite a lot. In PF1, they shared most of the same rules as creating a PC, but in the new games, it's a separate system.

And to make it more of a hassle, the full monster creation rules for PF2 weren't in the first Bestiary - they're in the GameMastery Guide, which isn't scheduled until next year (fortunately, they were recently published in a free pdf), but for now, the bestiary monsters had to be entered as is, since the rules on exactly how to customize them weren't available at the time their book became available.

Are there any plans to release what was contained in the free pdf early onto herolab, or will we have to wait for the full GM guide release?
