The OpenDoc format is XML. Like any data format, you just need a decent viewer

Converting PDF to XML would be relatively simple if all PDF's conformed to the standards. Unfortunately even Acrobat produced so many different versions of PDF's over the years , 6 or 7 IIRC, that doing the conversion is rarely easy. Add in that so many PDF's are themselves scanned images of text instead of the actual text...

I know I'm necromancing this post a bit.

The advantage of copy/pasting is that you really know the material, that by the time you run it, it comes easy.

I've copy pasted 3 modules (after conversion) and it works pretty darn well. My next project will be monumental: Red Hand of Doom. Conversion and entry all at the same time.

I've done several PDF's by the copy and paste method and it does give you a lot of insight into the material and if it is something like an AP you'll be running for months with a serious party that's a great thing. If it is a module you hate and that no one should ever own but you're being paid to enter then not so much not that I ever did anything of the sort.

I guess the daunting aspect is what to start with as the baseline.
NoxRaven,

There are 2 ways to enter info from scratch.

Manually typing it in... Long and laborious process.

Get Dragon Speech software, and "speak" most of it in. I do this, Im entering in the Worlds Largest Dungeon this way.

As for where to start....
Think "Top Down".

Start with Toril, then Faerun, Then cities, dungeons etc...
Act like your seeing the planet in space... and drill down from there. This way things "LINK" as they should.
