Was wondering if anyone on team LWD could share data on the file size for some of the contet that's in the initial release. I'm really interested in The Dragons Demand as that should be a good benchmark for the entire module line. I'm currently planning a hard disk expansion to support all my digital content so I need to know if I have to go nerd or full nerd

Edit: or is the plan to store everything in the Cloud and load directly into memory as needed?

I can't comment on size but you will need local storage. Your realms will backup to the cloud as they do now.

Everything is stored in your local RealmWorks database on your local hard disk.

You can choose to delete the local copy of a realm, and later sync it back down from the cloud server (you'll probably need a subscription for this) when you want it again.

But when opening a realm, it is always done from the local database.

(This will change when the web front-end is released, when you will be able to access the realm [to a degree] via a web browser.)

Based on my experiments, I've done quite a bit of exporting and importing just for my own reasons, a full sized module should run something around 100Megs or less. A lot depends on how many images, and at resolution, are included in the export.

I would be shocked to have RW make any substantial impact on a modern HDD.

Get as big a hard drive as you can afford. I find that to be the best policy.

Modules tend to vary in size from maybe 20MB at the low end to 50MB at the high end. The variation stems primarily from the number and size of images, which is often tied to the page count (i.e. larger modules have more images and are therefore bigger than small images).

For interest sake. I did a few exports of my work on adventures.

I have entered in "U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh” 1st edition module.
All text entered.
All pics/maps in PNG format (unpinned atm).
Exported File Size:20MB

I have entered in "T1-4 The Temple of Elemental Evil" AD&D 1st edition module.
All text entered.
All pics/maps in PNG format (unpinned atm).
Exported File Size: 30MB

I have entered in "A Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil" AD&D 3rd edition module.
All text entered.
All pics/maps in PNG format (unpinned atm).
Exported File Size:63MB

Each of these had their pictures and maps captured from the PDF via Snipping Tool. Saved as PNG.
Any cleaning up done in MS Paint (easy) and resaved as PNG.
They are good examples of file sizes, as they represent an average, large and very large undertakings but the maps and pictures of the last is vastly different. Full color in "A Return" vs mixed black and white/color for "T1-4" vs all black a white in "U1".

Funny, I did just the Village of Hommlet (T-1) from my original 1st edition version and it ran over 25 megs. I scanned the images from the printed ones and cleaned them up via several different tools including photoshop, I worked in JPG rather than PNG.

Clearly I over did it somewhere in the images.

That is interesting, because I also added a Monster topic for each different in the module, including the snipped pic from the 1st edition MM.

So I have a huge amount of extra topics, with B&W pics.

As an example the cover is a 906KB file. I think your images are probably much higher resolution then mine.
