From the announcements thread:
On Wednesday morning (October 2) at 10 AM Pacific time, we plan to take Hero Lab Online down for maintenance. We expect up to about 30 minutes of downtime, though it may be less.

UPDATE: Things are taking a little longer than expected.

UPDATE: Sorry for the delay. Everything is now back up.

Hi

Appreciate that UK / European users might be in the minority but just to flag that 10am PST is not a great time for us as it is early evening here when we are looking to use HLO. Also, the downtime seems to regularly be longer than 30 minutes so would be good to know if that is a trend that will continue.

Thanks

Out of curiosity, what does "maintenance" typically mean in the context of a website? Changing the oil and topping up the windshield washer fluid on the servers...?

It can mean a variety of things but typically it means performing software or hardware maintenance tasks like installing operating system updates, making hardware changes, running database scripts that can't be run while applications using the database are running, or making small updates to our own applications. Updates like that may not necessarily be noticeable to an external user but may help improve how things are running in some way, or be needed in preparation for some future software update we plan to roll out.
