Is it possible to have a "sticky" thread that deals only with the downloader and when it is updated?
The purpose would be to inform users of changes and updates with the downloader. 1. That way people know when to run it (instead of running it each month to have no changes) 2. To inform users when content has been added to the downloader. 3. It would only be for information not the place to report probelms or gliches. 4. Possibly a way to let everyone know how long the DDI download/convertion process will take (about) Thank you Sean |

The downloader is only ever updated when a new version of the 4e data files has been released. So that's the main signal you need to re-run the downloader - when new data files come out.
If we release a new version of the data files without updating the downloader, which we occasionally do, we'll mention it in the FAQ and release notes. So the first screen you see after loading the new data files will tell you whether you need to re-run the downloader or not. Unless it says "downloader not updated since <last month>", you can re-run the downloader to get new data. Other than that, new data is available whenever Wizards updates the Compendium content, which you can check on their web site. That's about every month or so - the details are posted on the Wizards web site here: http://community.wizards.com/go/foru..._announcements The next update will be on March 20th. We don't really have any more information than you guys do - when the compendium gets updated, we download the new content and then fix any downloader issues as quickly as we can. |
