Help with a Def. File.

Hello,



I keep getting an "Invalid Unique ID" error in my Def. file. The question I
have for everyone is that I thought ID was only unique to their respective
tag groups. Is this true? Also, can I have a tag group inherit another tag
group? If so, how do I do that? Thanks

Which unique ID is being reported as invalid? And where are you using it?
Unique Ids must be 10 or less characters long, and consist of only
alphanumeric characters and _s.

Hi Brian,

An "invalid unique id" error indicates that you are probably using an
invalid character within the unique id. You can only use letters (A-Z,
a-z), digits (0-9), and the character '_' within ids. Anything else is
invalid. It's also invalid to have an empty id.

You are correct that each tag group has its own unique set of tags and ids.
If you duplicated a unique id, you should get a different error message
(identifying the duplicate).

Lastly, it is not possible to inherit tags between groups. Each group is an
independent entity and there is no sharing between them. What are you
trying to accomplish for which you want to inherit tags?

Rob,

There is a tag group that has a lot of data repetition from other tag
groups. I was hoping to be able to inherit the tags instead of having to
copy and paste all of the tag data. That's all. Just trying to make it a
little easier on me!
