I've started entering data for a Traveller campaign I am going to be GMing. In some cases the software detects links and in others it doesn't. What am I missing or doing wrong ?

Is there a particular circumstance when the link isn't detected?
If the topic you are linking to doesn't exist, then you create it later, Realm Works won't rescan the whole Realm and add links where necessary. You have to edit and save a Topic to force a rescan. "Edit and save" in this case means you have to actually make a change to the topic (even just add a space and delete it) so that Realm Works recognizes a change so that when you save it forces a scan for links. I *think* there is a feature forthcoming to rescan all text for links. The MANAGE->REBUILD INDEX seems to be just for text searches using filters, not for rebuilding links. If you have a bunch of data to enter that's all interlinked, then try this: 1) Create a new Topic (Topic A) 2) Enter data in Topic A. 3) When you type something that you know is going to be another new Topic (Topic B), hit CTRL-Q. This pops up a window that lets you create Topic B with a title and a Category. 4) Continue entering Topic A 5) When you save Topic A, Realm Works scans that database, finds Topic B and makes your text in Topic A a link to it. 6) Move to Topic B and fill it in, using CTRL-Q as necessary to create new stubs when you get to them. |

Thanks for responding. I will try out your suggestion and see how it works out.
Maybe I'm also misunderstanding links. If I've created something as an actual entity within the database I'm assuming that means something can then link if it's spelled the same way. |

Is that not happening? If you have a Topic, and you enter the name of that topic in a Snippet in another Topic, is it not generating the link? |

You don't need to edit a topic to have it update.
Under the Content Pane Options (F7 - Tools Button) ==> Quick Edit Content ==> Scan for New Content Links or ==> Clear All Content Links and Rescan |

I can't find that documented in the manuals anywhere, and I haven't got to that set of panels in my "poking around" yet. They keep it well hidden, huh? |
