I just tried it and it looks like I gave wrong information. Sorry about that. I was under the impression that foreign objects behaved like Hero Lab portfolios and various other object snippets. It seems that we aren't supporting all the same behaviors for Foreign Objects that we are for those other snippet types.

I'll need to talk to the team about adding more sophisticated support for foreign objects. I'm sure there's something technical that's the reason for the difference and that I'm forgetting/overlooking. Sorry for the confusion.

About what size is getting into the 'too big' size. Would it be in Pixels (X by Y), would it be by size (XX MB), or a combination of both? I know you will not be able to give me numbers like XX is good, XX+1 is bad, but can you give me a 'range' estimate. Right now I have an image file that is about 8mb. I made it bigger so I can zoom in to see the details but I don't want to overload.

We have a hard limit on images and other external files that depends on the type of file. The maximum size for any file currently is 30,000,000 bytes. We then warn on images if they are more than 12,582,912 pixels (this corresponds to a 4,096 x 3,072 pixel image). With images with lots of pixels, it can cause problems as there may be multiple images needed in memory at the same time.

I'm just getting started so please forgive my ignorance.

Is there a way to link an overview map to multiple section maps?
(ex. a continent map with X x Y regional maps)

I put a pin in the continent map and create the association to the smaller map. Then on the right side of the screen you will see all associated content and can click on the link you want.

There might be a better way, I just found this one and stopped looking.

The recommended solution is exactly as outlined by @Mmurphy here. You simply use pins to each of the regions and associate them to the topics for those regions. Then you add smart image snippets to those regions. It makes for a smooth drill-down model, plus it provides full linking to both the sub-region and containing regions.

That's great and elegant. Thanks, it should help me, at least, avoid images that are too big.
