I've brought my work iPad home this weekend to give the iPad version a spin at my game this weekend.

I managed to get my license working, and moved my character file to the correct dropbox folder to get it to show up.

But how do I get the app to stop complaining about XP? On the desktop, I have advancement set to "No XP Required" because our GM is just having us level when we get to the point in the AP where we're expected to level. But that setting doesn't seem to exist on the app?

You need to install the Community Basic Pack that is what adds the No XP option.

Hero Lab Resources:
Pathfinder - d20pfsrd and Pathfinder Pack Setup
3.5 D&D (d20) - Community Server Setup
5E D&D - Community Server Setup
Hero Lab Help - Hero Lab FAQ, Editor Tutorials and Videos, Editor & Scripting Resources.

- Realm Works kickstarter backer (Alpha Wolf) and Beta tester.
- d20 HL package volunteer editor.

Thanks SC. I never thought to add the community pack to the iPad. I didn't even realize that I could add it.

Totally can! I did allot of rework a year ago to make sure that everything can load correctly on the iPads. The "file" structure is a little different than Mac/Windows so it was one of big reasons for the change to "Packs".

I'm curious why this isn't a default option within HeroLab? I have to download the entire community back just to have this option?

It's because the official Pathfinder rules don't have that option.

It's easy to work around: specify that you're using the PFS rules and when your GM says you should upgrade, add three blank journal entries and give each one a single XP point.

Or use the regular point award advancement and when the GM says it's time to level up, dump a lot of points into the XP field and then level up.

If you have the Community Pack, it's just a little simpler. Of course, the Community Pack includes so much other stuff, that this is just one piece of it.

Or label the character an NPC and don't worry about XP at all. Or keep it a PC and use the "Starting Level" incrementer on the config form any time you want to level up.

That's how we did it before the Community Pack had the option (and still how we do it in 4e).

Currently Running: Pathfinder Second Edition
Currently Playing:
Pathfinder First Edition, Star Trek Adventures
Former HL Games: D&D 4e & 5e, Mutants & Masterminds 2E & 3E, Savage Worlds
